The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has issued a request for selection to procure energy from 800 MW/3,200 MWh of standalone battery energy storage systems connected to the inter-state transmission system, under its ESS-IV round.

The projects will be built on a build-own-operate basis and rated for four hours of charging and discharging per cycle, for "on-demand" use. Developers will be selected through e-bidding followed by an e-reverse auction.

A single bidder may quote between 50 MW/200 MWh and the full 800 MW/3,200 MWh. Online bid submission closes on October 30, 2026, with bids scheduled to open on November 4.

The tender is the latest in a busy month for storage procurement, with Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat also running multi-gigawatt-hour standalone BESS auctions.
