Fortress Power eBoost ESS Expands Home Battery Storage to 256 kWh

Fort.ress Power just upped the ante in residential and commercial energy storage with its new eBoost system. Sixteen of these 16-kWh units can link together, giving you a whopping 256 kWh capacity. That’s like powering an average American home for days without grid electricity. Gone are the days where battery storage was just for backup—the eBoost flips the script.

Why This Battery System Stands Out

Most home batteries max out at 20 kWh unless you’re looking at industrial setups. The eBoost’s modular design throws that limit out the window.

Let’s talk numbers: each cabinet-sized unit delivers 16 kWh with 8 kW continuous output. Pair with solar panels (or PV modules if you’re feeling technical), and suddenly that “solar+storage dream” becomes reality storage capacity for homes and businesses. “The eBoost sets a new standard for flexible, high-capacity energy storage,” says Matthew Daniel, Fortress Power’s Product Manager.

But Is More Capacity Always Better?

Here’s where it gets interesting. Some argue oversized storage wastes money… until blackouts hit or net metering policies change. With utilities cutting buyback rates nationwide, storing excess solar energy instead of selling it cheap is becoming a no-brainer. And unlike the Tesla Powerwall’s fixed size, eBoost lets you scale as needs grow.
