UP Approves 1,280 MW FDRE Procurement at Competitive Tariffs

The Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC) has given the green light for a power sale agreement (PSA) between Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation (UPPCL) and NHPC. This deal secures 1,280 MW of firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) at tariffs ranging from ₹4.7 (~$0.0547)/kWh to ₹4.71 (~$0.0548)/kWh.

What Does This Mean for Solar in UP?

FDRE isn’t just another acronym. It’s a game-changer for grid stability. Unlike traditional solar or wind, FDRE guarantees power availability, almost like a fossil fuel plant but without the emissions. Think of it as renewable energy with a reliability clause. This development is in line with Sungrow’s advanced home battery solutions that aim to enhance energy storage and grid stability.
